Energy of Word is unique media competition established in 2004 by the Global Energy Foundation with a view of commending mass media and individual journalists for a contribution to popularization of urgent energy industry problems and activities of the Global Energy International Prize.
At different times Energy of Word prize was awarded to this country’s leading socio-political mass media such as RIA Novosti news agency, Kommersant and Izvestia newspapers, Echo of Moscow radio station, TVTs and Channel 1 TV channels and many others.
Due to increase of public interest in the energy industry proceedings coverage of scientific achievements, tasks and recent news related to the topic has become a vital necessity in the world of today. That is why the Board of Trustees decided on extension of the competition nominations programme beginning with 2009.
Thus the competition jury will elect winners in the following six main nominations:
- Best publication on the Global Energy International Prize, its role and special projects (Energy of Youth, Energy of Childhood etc)
- Best publication on fundamental research activities that reveals important problems of energy industry
- Best journalist covering topics related to energy industry
- Best sectoral energy industry periodical
- Best socio-political periodical widely covering energy industry problems
- Best international mass media to have presented most comprehensive coverage of topics related to energy industry or the Global Energy Prize during the current year
