Energy of Word Competition

1.   BASIC PROVISIONS
 
1.1. The competition is held with the intention of attracting the attention of the mass media and society to issues related to the development of scientific research in the area of energy and energy technology, publicising the ideas of the Global Energy  Prize.
The energy challenge is one of the most significant problems facing humanity today, and research into energy is of vital importance going far beyond purely scientific confines. Broad publicity of this idea leads to an understanding within civil society of global issues for the development of humanity, prompting government and society to support scientific and research projects.   
The Energy of Word Prize is awarded for highly professional, competent, science-intensive and significant work which covers scientific achievements in energy and energy technology.
 
1.2. The competition considers the following:
-Opinion research material;
-Analytical reviews;
-Interviews;
-Photojournalism;
-Special news briefs from news agencies;
-Featured pages from economic and general political media;
-Specialised websites;
-Specialised journals;
-Radio and television programmes (serial programmes);
-Documentary films (with date of broadcasting provided).
 1.3. The main criteria for evaluation: fundamental and applied scientific research in the field of energy technology, humanitarian focus, global problems, practical benefit to humanity.  
 
2. COMPETITION ORGANIZERS 
2.1. The competition is run at the initiative of the Global Energy Non-commercial Partnership.
2.2. The organizers’ tasks include:
2.2.1    Notifying potential participants of the competition by posting information on the website of the Global Energy Partnership and publications in the mass media.
2.2.2    Accepting work for the competition and monitor the press over the course of the year.
2.2.3    Providing remote access to the competition’s work and an online voting system
2.2.5    Organising the award ceremony for the competition winners.
2.2.6    Providing relevant information and results of the competition to the mass media.
2.3. The Global Energy Non-commercial Partnership has the right to set forth nomination categories at its own initiative, attracting for this purpose sponsors and partners.
 
3.   THE JURY
The winnwrs of The Energy of Word International Media Contest are chosen by The Global Energy Prize International Award Committee.
 
4. COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS
4.1. Authors who have published material irrespective of their nationality or citizenship, gender or age are permitted to enter the competition.
4.2. The competition takes place based on submitted material and also on the basis of monitoring a broad range of Russian and international media, including television.

5. REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITION WORK
5.1. Contestant materials (see cl. 1.2.) shall be published in print, internet publications or broadcast on television or radio from between 1 January to 31 December of the year of the competition.
5.2. Material nominated for the Prize shall be of a highly professional level, fitting the specified subject matter, and increase public interest in scientific achievements in the field of energy and energy technology.
5.3. Works are examined in Russian and foreign languages; foreign language materials are translated into Russian.

6. COMPETITION PRIZES
6.1. No more than two winners are chosen at the conclusion of the competition. The winners in each professional nomination are awarded an Honorary Diploma.
6.2. Winners are invited to all the events during the Global Energy Prize Laureates’ Week in St. Petersburg in June at the expense of the Global Energy Partnership, including attending the Global Energy Award Ceremony participated by the President of the Russian Federation. 
 
7. TIMELINES AND COMPETITION STAGES
7.1. The competition is held from February to April
7.2. The announcement of the best authors, diploma winners and laureate shall take place in April of current year. 7.3. The Awarding Ceremony for winners of the Energy of Word competition shall take place during the Laureates’ Week of the Global Energy International Prize coinciding with the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
