Nomination Process

The nomination for the Global Energy Prize is executed subject to the relevant procedure that is agreed upon between the International Prize Award Committee and the Executive Board for the Prize and subsequently enacted by the latter. The nomination of projects is carried out subject to the timing defined in the Regulations on the International Energy Research & Development Prize. Self-nomination of candidates is not permitted. The members of the International Prize Award Committee and the members of the Commission of Experts are not eligible to nominate candidates for the Prize.

The following persons are eligible to nominate candidates for the Prize:

  • laureates of the Nobel Prize in physics or chemistry;
  • laureates of the Kyoto, Max Planck, Wolf and Balzan Prizes;
  • laureates of the Global Energy International Prize for R&D projects in the energy industry;
  • members of the Department of Earth Sciences, the Department of Physical Sciences, the Department of Chemistry and Material Sciences, the Department of Energy, Machinery, Mechanics and Control Processes of the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as international members of the above departments; — the scientists that have been specially invited thereto by the International Prize Award Committee.

No preliminary discussion of the projects submitted is in order. The nomination process is executed under strict confidentiality.

All the requirements prescribed for the nomination questionnaire must be met, such as:

  • the candidate’s nomination subject must be stated clearly and unambiguously;
  • all the sections must be filled out, which includes an indication of the citation index;
  • if a group is included in the nomination, the specific contribution of each group member to the nominated project must be stated.
