The Global Energy Prize, one of the world’s most respected awards in energy science, is now accepting nominations for its over $1 million 2012 award. The Prize will be given to the winner by the President of Russia in an official ceremony which will take place as part of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, in June 2012.

Representatives from the Global Energy Prize, a leading international award which rewards innovation and solutions in global energy research and its concurrent environmental challenges, will participate this week at the XXI Economic Forum, to be held 7-9 September in Krynica-Zdroj, Poland. Global Energy Prize President Igor Lobovsky will head the delegation, part of Russia’s wider representation at the Forum.

The Global Energy Leaders Summit, organised by one of the world’s most respected economic newspapers the Financial Times will take place in London on 28-29 June 2011. The event will be attended by the industry’s most distinguished leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs as well as policy makers and industry thought leaders. Russia will be represented at the summit by a delegation from the Global Energy Prize Partnership and its President, Igor Lobovsky.

Dr. Arthur H. Rosenfeld of the USA and Dr. Philipp Rutberg of Russia have been presented with the 2011 Global Energy Prize, which rewards innovation and solutions in global energy research and its concurrent environmental challenges. The Prize was given to the scientists on Friday by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in an official ceremony which took place as part of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Kambiz Foroohar of Bloomberg Markets Magazine (USA) and Terry Macalister of The Guardian (UK) were honoured as winners of the Energy of Word international media competition in a ceremony held in St Petersburg on Thursday 16 June. The winners’ diploma and statuettes were presented by prominent scientists Dr. Philipp Rutberg (Russia) and Dr. Arthur Rosenfeld (USA), winners of the 2011 Global Energy Prize.

The ceremony in Geneva will be attended by eminent European scientists, and the hero of the day has also been congratulated by ex-president of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev. On May, 24 a symposium will be held at CERN to celebrate Robert Aymar`s 75 birthday. The event will be opened by Professor Rolf Heuer, CERN Director General. Other outstanding specialists in nuclear and thermonuclear physics will participate in the symposium.

Today, one of the year’s most important events in the energy industry took place. At an official press conference in Moscow, the names of the Global Energy International Prize laureates were announced. They are well-known Russian scientist and academician Filipp Rutberg and his no less outstanding colleague from the USA, University of California at Berkeley professor Arthur Rosenfeld.

Today the Global Energy Foundation began accepting applications for the Seventh All-Russian Youth Competition of Research Projects in the field of energy “Energy of Youth.” The closing date for applications is 1st November 2010. The Expert Commission of the Global Energy International Award Committee will make a decision on the winner.
