On an annual basis, the Global Energy Foundation holds the All-Russian contest of Youth scientific projects titled «Energy of Youth». The Contest is conducted among specialized research and academic institutions of the Russian Federation. The main goal of the Youth Energy Contest lies in fostering scientific progress in the Russian energy industry, which can be achieved by way of motivating young scientists and enhancing their interest towards scientific research in this area.
Under the Energy of Youth Contest, the Global Energy Foundation supports Russian scientists under 35 years of age.
In order to take part in the Contest, one must meet the following basic criteria:
- being a citizen of the Russian Federation;
- being under 35 years of age at the time of submission;
- having one’s own publications on energy and energy industry;
- having carried out R&D projects in the field of energy;
- having a work profile or an academic specialization related to energy.
While preparing their projects for the Contest, young people are not allowed to receive assistance from more than one academic adviser. No age restrictions are imposed on such advisers.
The number of winner projects cannot exceed six. That provided, the final decision with respect to the number of winners is made by the Commission of Experts for the Global Energy Prize.
The winners of the All-Russian contest of Youth scientific projects receive their specially allocated grants. The grants are paid out regardless of the winner’s property status, nationality, gender or race. The Foundation may suspend or discontinue grant payments in the event that the head of the project discontinues project administration. The participants of the Energy of Youth Program are put under an obligation to make the results of their research works public, wherefore they are required to publish them in some of Russia’s leading specialized periodicals. Upon completion of their research work, the winners of the Contest must make speeches at the Research & Practice Symposium which is organized annually by the Global Energy Foundation as part of the Laureates’ Week Program.
